Thursday 14 August 2025 (Week 4)
A note from Mr Pardini
Dear Families,
Containers for Change Bins - You will notice the 'Containers for Change' bins out the front of our school. If you have any containers that you would like to drop off, please leave them in these bins. A big thanks to Seonaid Leslie who has offered to collect the bins when they are full. All proceeds from collections will go back into the school community.
Confirmation Mass - We look forward to seeing our families at Mass this Sunday 17 August for Millie's Confirmation at 5.00pm. We had been looking forward to meeting our new Bishop of the Bunbury Diocese, Bishop George, however he is now unable to attend due to having COVID. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to have the opportunity to welcome him to our school and parish in the very near future. In the absence of Bishop George, Father Edwin will conduct the confirmation mass. We invite everyone to please join us for a cuppa in the hall and some light supper. Mrs Watts has prepared a choir to lead some of the singing at Mass and I appreciate parent support ensuring these children are present at the Mass.
Book Week - Do you have your costume ready? The excitement is building for our annual Book Week Dress up day parade which will be held on the basketball courts this coming Tuesday 19 August at 8.45am. We look forward to seeing you! On this day, students will be joining author Kate Searle for a talk about writing.
Book Fair is coming! - It has been a couple of years since we held a Book Fair. Watch this space, as we will soon be displaying some new books for purchase as part of Book Fair (week 6). Students will all get the opportunity to view the books and make a 'wish list' so you have an idea of your child's interests. Part proceeds from book sales are returned into our school library so we can purchase new books.
TREE Talks - Over the past week, students in year 4-6 have been busy finalising their TREE talks on a topic of their choice. The first stage of TREE Talks is delivering their speech to their own class group, which has been taking place this week. Following these in-class speeches, four students from each year group will progress to the next round where they deliver their talk in front of all the year 4 to 6 students; this will take place next Wednesday 20 August at 8.45am in the library. Finally, two students from each year group will progress to the regional grand final. We will be joined by students from St Mary's Boyup Brook, Kearnan College Manjimup and St Joseph's Pemberton - this grand final will be hosted at St Brigid's School on Tuesday 2 September.
Have an enjoyable remainder to your week!

Police Commissioner Visit
Earlier in the week our students were fortunate to have a visit from the WA Police Commissioner, Col Blanch along with the Acting Superintendent, Tony Vuleta. This incursion provided valuable insight and information about the police force to our students. Thank you to Cassandra McCredden for facilitating this - quite possibly the largest future recruitment drive in the south west!!!
